Sennheiser MKH 8000 Series - Rycote Solution

The current range of MKH 8000 series from Sennheiser is as follows:

MKH 8000 Capsules
MKH 8020 (Omni)
MKH 8040 (Cardioid)
MKH 8050 (Super Cardioid)

All three capsule types come supplied with an MZX 8000 XLR module. The MZX simply screws onto the capsule and allows it to be connected to a standard 3-pin XLR cable. The Rycote product for this solution is the WS 10 kit, which is also fitted with 2 x 19/25 mm lyres & CB 1 Connbox.

MZF 8000 Filter
The MZF 8000 is a switchable roll-off filter. This can be screwed onto all of the MKH 8000 capsule, between the capsule & MZX or MZL. It's overall length is 29 mm. Therefore when added to MKH 80XX + MZX, the suitable Rycote kit for it is the WS 1 kit.

Remote Use
All three capsule can also be used remotely, with the use of either the Sennheiser MZL cables or the Rycote MZL Connbox. When using the MZL, the MZX 8000 is not housed within the windshield, the body of windshield can be reduced accordingly. The suitable Rycote kit for all MKH 8000 series when used with the MZL Connbox or MZL cable is the Mono Extended Ballgag (body length 70 mm). The Mono Extended Ballgag can be supplied with or without the MZL Connbox.

The Mono Extended Ballgag (MZL) is supplied with 19/22 mm Lyre front & 8.0 mm Lyre back, for attachment to the mic body & rubber part of the MZL rear. It also is supplied with a spare 19/22 mm Lyre, should the MZF 8000 be fitted, which will fit inside the Mono Extended Ballgag.

MZL Connbox (supplied by Rycote)
A specially designed Rycote Connbox with a Sennheiser MZL cable input with Neutrik Gold 3-pin X-series XLR output, using Mogami cables.

MZL 8003 & 8010 (supplied by Sennheiser)
Connects between the microphone head and the XLR module to make the microphone extremely unobtrusive; lengths: 3 & 10 Metres
