Solutions for compact mics

Mono Extended Ball Gags are the ideal solution for compact microphones. A smaller version of the Rycote Modular Windshield Kits, the Mono Extended Ball Gag Kit offers maximum isolation from wind and handling-noise.

A Mono Extended Ball Gag Kit is comprised of the following main components: a Suspension, Windshield and Windjammer™. A Connbox may be added for addidtional isolation from cable-borne noise. 

Components may also be ordered separately.

Mono Extended Ballgag (XBG) Suspension

For *compact* condenser microphones or remote capsule setups. Equipped with two different Lyres mounted on the Mono Extended Ballgag Suspension. The front Lyre is a special 19/22mm diameter clip for holding the main part of the compact microphone. The rear Lyre is 9.5mm clip to hold the smaller diameter cable exit section of the microphone. Provides maximum shock isolation. Compatible with Schoeps CCM (Lemo), CMC/ MK/KC 5, Sennheiser MKH8000 with MZL cable, Neumann KM100 Series with LC3 KA cable.

Mono Extended Ballgag Windshield

Mono Extended Ball Gags offer a unique and highly effective solution for *compact* condenser microphones requiring wind protection and maximum shock isolation. It completely surrounds the compact microphone, sliding onto the XBG Suspension to provide up to 25dB of wind noise attenuation. The wind attenuation per- formance is equivalent to a Rycote full sized Windshield yet in a much smaller and lighter package – only 170mm x 105mm including end caps.

 

Mono Extended Ballgag Windjammer™

High quality synthetic fur-cover for XBG Windshields providing the highest possible protection against extreme wind-noise. When using a Windjammer™ fitted over a Windshield up to 35 dB of wind-noise attenuation can be achieved, producing excellent exterior audio recordings. Includes brush.

 

Mono Extended Ballgag Hi Wind Cover

A high quality synthetic “fleece-like” cover providing better protection against wind-noise than a bare XBG windshield. Hi Wind Covers are a Lo-profile option fitted over a XBG Windshield for increased wind noise attenuation with results that sit neatly between a bare Windshield and one covered by a Windjammer™.

Connbox

The Connbox is designed to isolate and greatly reduce handling and cable-borne noise to a microphone on a Modular Suspension. Acting as a transition connector and anchor point for the microphone tail, the lengths of cable are set to work perfectly with the microphone fitted in the Windshield, without touching the internal surface of the basket. The soft cable then greatly reduces the transmission path of cableborne noise, thus further reducing cable rumble.

Mono Extended Ballgag Kit for M/S Stereo

We also offer a Mono XBG Kit with a Suspension setup for an “M/S” (Mid-Side) stereo arrangement with two microphones. We only recommend this for applications where having the smallest size windshield is priority-one. This M/S setup is less effective in windshielding and isolation for M/S compared to our Stereo Extended Ball Gag.

Please note that the M/S Kit and Suspension do not come with Lyres, but come with o'rings instead.
