Here in the Demo section of our web site, we present a growing library of video and audio files showing Rycote products in action, together with test graphs for an ever-increasing number of our products.
Microphone Windshielding Systems
Windshielding systems protect microphones from the unwanted sound of the wind when recording outdoors; even a light breeze may result in distorted sound on the output of the microphone, or an unpleasant, low-frequency rumbling that randomly increases and decreases in volume. As such, some form of microphone windshielding is needed in almost all radio and TV outside broadcast situations, and when recording films on location.
Microphone Shock-mount Systems
Microphone suspension systems shield the mic from the unwanted effect of shock vibrations, which may reach the microphone capsule through the mic's cable or stand, or by the mic itself being struck or handled. These vibrations also create unwanted noise at the output of the microphone which can sound like pops or loud thumps. Unlike windshielding systems, which are only really necessary when mics are used outdoors, shock-mounts are required in almost any situation where a clean, undistorted audio output is required.
