Team Rycote (Gobi-08) consists of 3 members - Simon Davies (Rycotes technical director), Ryan Davies (Simon's son) & Giles Heeks (friend, trainer & tormentor of Simon & Ryan). Rycote "kindly" agreed to sponsor us to enter the event. The so-called ‘Ultras challenges’, were set up to push competitors to their mental, physical and emotional limits, whilst at the same time helping to raise money for worthwhile causes. |

Gobi Challenge 2008 - what is it?
The Gobi Challenge has firmly established itself as one of the World's finest desert events. It is an immense physical and mental challenge, with stunning terrain (including an ice gorge, Asia's highest sand dunes and mountain gorges). The terrain is home to wolves, vultures and nomadic goat herders and is described as one of the least forgiving environments on earth, serving as a real test to the Rycote team’s boundaries. Over the period of a week we will cover between 130 and 140 miles on foot while carrying all our own food, provisions and mandatory safety gear.
The Gobi Challenge 2008 is held in the Mongolian Desert in July 2008. For more info on the Gobi Challenge 2008 please click here
Vivienne Dyer, Rycote’s MD says: “We have all encouraged the boys with their training and some of us have joined in with the added bonus of getting fitter ourselves! These challenges will give the boys the opportunity to push themselves to achieve their personal best and we should all subscribe to that."
In reply to Vivienne's quote, Simon says: "Thanks Mum!!"
Our Charity The charity we have chosen to support through this event is called: As Giles & I both have military backgrounds we felt they are a very worthwhile cause to back. Help for Heroes is strictly non-political organisation set up to support injured British military men, women and their families in Iraq and Afghanistan. It takes no position on the rights or wrongs of British military involvement. We have an online donation facility that anyone in the UK or the rest of the world can easily doante to. Please, please donate as this is a very worthy cause. Please click here to donate or visit the page directly with the link below: |
